I have had it in my head for awhile now to go viral - to have a shop online. Once I closed my other shop and opened Laloba Vintage, I knew it was only a matter of time before I appeared in the world of online commerce. Why have I made this decision? There's a few reasons, and here's some of them:
1. Traffic: My local shop is located in a small town which is part of a bigger city. Since we are technically three towns in one city, we have three downtown areas. This can be a challenge sometimes as it can affect traffic and visibility. I'm so grateful to have the neighbours I do; our lil' community is so supportive of one of another and we have really worked hard to have festivals and events to draw people to our village. As any retailer can attest, there's slow times and busy times, that's just the way it is. So, by making an entrance into the online world, I hope to gather more of a supportive community so I can continue doing what I love.
2. Growth: I have big goals for Laloba. I love decorating and curating my local shop, but I also love the idea of being online - not really knowing who's looking, what country they are from or what time of day they are stopping by... there's some mystery :) Taking Laloba online is another step in the direction of my goals.
3. Curated Goods: One of my favourite things about having a shop is being able to curate collections and decide what themes to work with. By having an online shop, it gives Laloba another avenue for curated collections; I can focus on other things for online then what will be in the local shop.
Those are the main reasons I have decided to open an online shop. I've been working away at collecting, taking pictures, editing, etc for quite awhile now. The official launch of the shop will be: Monday, August.6th at 10pm.
Thanks very much for stopping by and I hope you are doing well.
