True Becoming

Handmade Valentines (some scary): For All to Share

Simple Valentines CardsSo i know i come to you as someone who happens to be in a relationship, but i haven't always been and yet have always loved Valentine's day. I think this is because i really don't see it as a couples day. at all really. I mean, sure it's an excuse to go out for a date or receive a piece of jewellery (hint, hint:), but moreso i think i've always liked it because of the notion of giving cards and candy, two of my favourite things. Remember the grade-school days when you had to request a class list so that you could sit and write out a valentine to EVERYONE? and there would usually be a potluck of sorts with red and pink cupcakes and heart-shaped cookies? Everyone would have a brown paper bag with their name on it and people would go around filling them up with valentines. The best was when someone went beyond and attached those heart-shaped suckers to theirs. so good. i know there was a time when you only wrote them out to your buddies... but that has changed over the years, to include everyone. I think we could all stand to be inclusive with our kindness... and that's why i like valentines!! So, in loo of this favoured tradition, i've done some doodles that you can certainly feel free to print and hand-out to your loved ones, or just people you could use to be a little kinder too (they're not all limited to valentine's either).

Treats
Remember craft time? I used to looooove craft time at school and camp. You all sit independently and work at the same project but in different ways. Everyone would be given a task but would come up with completely different end results. Making cupcakes today with Jo was kind of like that. I haven't been feeling well this week, so just sitting working away at something was really nice today.

And she brought all her fan-dangled tips, icing and icing bags, so it was like making little pieces of edible art. So fun!

April Give-Away Contest

Unicorn and Narwhal Embroidery

Join me ALL OF APRIL for this Give-Away Contest!!!
In response to recently watching The Last Unicorn for the first time (I know, I totally missed out in childhood) I made these two embroideries. I thought it would be fun to use them as my FIRST EVER give-aways! They will come framed and please only Canadian residents to save on any shipping.

So... how do you win?

It's easy, just leave a comment about narwhals or unicorns. Better yet, leave a link to other great sources for unicorn/narwhal photos, facts or other fun stuff. I ask that you please encourage others to join in the contest!!!

Have a great day
