Inventory

Thrill of the Hunt
For months and months i have been stockpiling and re-arranging my home studio space to constantly make more room for product. It came to the point this past weekend that i couldn't walk in there anymore - it was more of a climb. So, for the past couple of days i have been sorting and doing inventory for the new shop. The 'thrill of the hunt' is what i adore most about my job, but I also really love sorting and envisioning new life and owners of each item.

She Finds: Ye Ol' Shell Treasures

Shell Animals
We have a fabulous book and record shop across from my shop (Millpond Records & Books - see another post here) and i always have a lot of luck finding great books. This past week i picked up a book caleld 'Contemporary' Shell Craft. Of course i say 'contemporary' because it's from the sixties, so it it of course now vintage, but just as useful today. Did you ever make shell creatures? Maybe it's my fond memories of combing the beach in Florida with my papa, looking for shells and shark's teeth, but i have a special place in my heart for shells so i'm excited to maek some of these projects. I hope you enjoy as well :)

i also added to my collection of seventies wicker furniture this weekend...

Life is in the Outtakes (that's where the Sad Unicorn lives)

Okay, so the other day in this post i mentioned some of the crazy things Ry says when we're doing photo-shoots to get me to laugh, and do crazy actions; one of these being a "Sad Unicorn". I have been asked about this (in a number of different formats), so i thought i would share said photos. I was going to wait and do this all down the road, but then I got to thinking about outtakes in general and how i proof the pictures and try to only show this edited version of myself, which really doesn't make a whole lot of sense seeing how goofiness, mine and others, in one of my favourite qualities. So, i decided to comb some of my past outfit posts and share some outtakes with you. Because really, life is all in the outtakes baby!!

here we are...

Sad Unicorn Outtakes
1. This was my birthday outfit post this past spring. In this photo ry is telling me to "become the tree... become one with the tree", 2.this was during a photo-shoot just for some general pics. Ry is telling me to "really show me how to blow a bubble with your gum", 3. Doing the 'creep', 4.Infamous 'Sad Unicorn'. "show me what a sad unicorn looks like" from this post.

Photoshoot Outtakes
5. "Show me shock and surprise" from this post, 6. "Show me the wind blowing you away", 7. "The Creep", again. From this outfit post, 8. "Smell the flowers... yup, now see how far out your butt can go"... from this outfit post.

Sad Unicorn Photo
Okay, this last one of the "Sad Unicorn" makes me laugh, and laugh, and laugh... and then feel embarrassed for showing you. But mostly it makes me laugh.

Don't let me be alone in the world of emotion-ridden unicorns... send me a photo or link to your blog where you try out a unicorn + emotion pic.

The Thrill of the Hunt: Road Trip

Thrill of the Hunt Road Trip

Since I work away from the shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I have deemed Wednesdays to be my "Thrill of the Hunt" day. This is where i pack up the car and hit the road on a thrifting trip. I map out where I want to go and then allow myself detours. Yesterday was so beautiful it was a perfect day to be on the road. I drove all over the Hamilton region, had a lot of coffee, and found some sweet finds.

Beach Boys and Kathleen Edwards

Having a nice collection of music is essential. I get very tired of the radio and can't seem to grasp the whole iPod thing, so I stick to tapes and c.d's. There's something about listening to cassettes that just fits the whole road trip experience. This Beach Boys tape only has three songs per side, so i change it over a lot! Yesterday was a perfect day to listen to Kathleen Edward's new c.d Voyageur!

Tim Horton's and Coffee Change

Coffee. liquid energy. this is what keeps me going through the day... so having lots of change nearby is key (luckily ryan leaves his change around the house all the time).

On these trips I'm typically hunting for the shop, but I did manage to find a few things for my personal collection.

Rolling Stones BookFabric Love
Find of the DAy Bull Mug

This above bull mug was by far my most favourite item I found!!

I love Road Trips

In Search of Coloured Jeans: Outfit Post

Red Jeans 2
I'm currently in love with coloured jeans. I've decided. I live in jeans and dresses for the most part, but in the colder months I tend to wear even more jeans (for lack of constantly wanting to pull up tights:) So, in order to fight the winter blues (literally), I'm searching for a wide array of coloured jeans- beyond blue denim. These are my first pair and I'm quite fond of them. The thing I love about having a bright coloured pair of jeans is that you don't have to do a whole lot else with your outfit; just tie in the colour subtlety through your accessories.

And now I'm on the hunt for orange, purple, black, turquoise, and, and, and ....
