STYLE: Feather + Red Outfit Post

True Becoming Vintage Feather DressOther than jeans and a baggy tee, dresses are one of my favourite outfits because they're easy! Throw on, add accessories and go! I wanted to get a "new" vintage dress this season as a reward to myself for working to getting the online shop up and running. I searched for awhile and settled on this 70's Red Feather Dress for it's cut, colour and, of course, it's feather pattern. The big collar is perfect for wearing fall scarves. I seem to have a thing for wearing a red dress on Thanksgiving weekend (see this post).

Thankfulness

Welcome Mat and FeetOctober is my favourite month and this year it seemed to creep up on us. Ry and i were just talking about this yesterday - how months seem to be flying by. That's why is was wonderful to put a lot of things on the back burner this past weekend and focus on the important things; the things we are most thankful for! It was a weekend spent with friends and family, reading, some meltdowns, and generally slowing down. Here's just a few snapshots from the weekend...Pumpkin Pie CupA Handmade Life Porch ShotPumpkin Face Sign for Soup ChallengeVintage Soup MugSit if Placesetting Signs Max and Me 1 Max and Me 2

1. Fall Wecome mat, 2. Really yummy Pumpkin Pie Dessrt Cups Ry's sister made, 3. A Handmade Life Sign (by Sabrina Ward Harrison) hanging in my porch - because I'm thankful for living a handmade life, 4. Soup Challenge sign at my mom's - we got to have two yummy soups and decide who made them, 5. Vintage Soup Mug, 6. Placecards - we had to decide where to sit based on the information on the back of the card (so creative), 7. I wanted to get some family photos and the pup was the only one willing (or, the easiest one to pick-up:)

I hope you had a good weekend - and if you are a fellow Canadian, a good Thanksgiving.

SNAPSHOT

True Becoming Snapshot of Colourhello friday. 'Snapshot' is a new lil' feature i'm starting for myself for fridays. We'll see how it goes. By the end of the week we're starting to wind down, there's been lots going on, we've been pulled in all sorts of directions, another week has gone by and it seems like a blur... so, snapshot is a way of me focusing on one thing in life and winding down. Feel free to join along :)

My Snapshot: Pretty blankets, pillows and fun shoe display in my porch. I love colour and mixing patterns; i find great inspiration in colour all around me. Stacked blankets remind me of being cozy.

Happy Friday!

House Tour: Dressing Room

Dressing Room 1 Hey there folks!!! I hope you are well. Things over here are pretty good and busy as usual. I'm finally adjusting to fall and transitioned our house the other day - it was a good exercise in accepting colder weather. I'm still really not knowing what my style is these days and am working on it (remember this post). On that note, i thought i would share a very special room in our pad: the dressing room/bar. Dressing Room 2 This room was orginally supposed to be our bedroom. When that didn't work it became a dining room for one year. When we realized that A: We didn't entertain dinner-wise and B: They was no space for clothing (no space at all), this room was converted into a dressing room (mostly for me) and a bar (mostly for Ry). I love this room because it's a great beginning of the day and end of the day room; a place to get ready and wind down. It also has a big space in the middle, perfect for lying down and chatting, ranting, sleeping (tall people that say the night sleep here:), etc. It's the biggest bare space in all of our place. Dressing Room 3Dressing Room 4Dressing Room 5Dressing Room 6Dressing Room 7 Dressing Room 8Dressing Room 9 Dressing Room 9Dressing Room 10

There you have it - that's our dressing room/bar! Like every other room, it's filled with memorabilia and things that are important to us. It's funny because most of our place has little value, other than to us - most of it is hand-me-downs, thrifted items or road-side finds. The other stuff, like the second photo of my great aunt as a young woman, are things we keep in our space to remember where we've been, the people we love and things that bring us joy. A comfortable abode is important and you don't need a lot of moola to do it - believe me!

If you'd like to see other areas of our place, here are other tours:
